its just art final display
This art project offers a depiction of the struggles endured by children during the Great Depression era by showcasing a toy created from recycled materials. Drawing inspiration from my moms childhood experiences of poverty in Mexico where she created toys from discarded items, this project serves as a reminder of the resourcefulness and resilience of children during this period. Just as my mom would break and rebuild her toys when she was a child in poverty. the toy in this project also symbolizes the injustice she faced as a child while she was working and gained far less than she deserved, just as the workers in the 1920's faced injustice in their work lives by being mistreated. The toy's appearance mirrors the poverty and harsh conditions that my mom lived in, just as the children of war in WW1 and WW2 lived in their harsh conditions. The art portrays the challenges and adversity that these children encountered because despite their struggles, the smile adorning the toy's face signifies the innocence and optimism that persisted in the hearts of these children, even amidst oppressive circumstances. This project shows the enduring impact of poverty on my mom and the children of war, poverty, and discrimination of the past, offering a perspective on their experiences and resilience in the face of adversity.
